Pirates and privateers
Pirates & slavers need not be low life. In the past, privateers were commissioned by the king to commit acts of piracy on ships of the king's enemies, & presumably to attack conventional pirates who would attack any ship. Privateers saw themselves as upright & respectable.

Tsk, armature. Never sample the merchandise. Besides, they're not worth half as much once the freshness seal is broken. As for the picture, well made. It's interesting how the slaver technically has a face, but because of shadows and all he basically comes off as a faceless brute. I think it shows her position in things, and helps us to not shed any tears when they crash later.
