With a name like that, I'd guess that it was the old Nine Lives Stealing (later just Life-Stealing) sword from D&D. It sometimes drains HP from the enemy to the wielder on a successful attack.

The names Soul Reaver, Nosgoth and Vorador are of course taken from the Legacy of Kain game. The plotline in Pontifex Maximus has little to do with the game, though.

Well, Myya, I'm a fan of reasonable Size-Difference (vis: Minotaur + Scarlett) so I don't mind the idea as such.
Admittedly, Orcus isn't known for being "reasonable".
