Burning at the stake.
Well, they could up the ante and apply methods developed and used by Vlad Tepec I guess...
How's that for "The worst they could do"?

Burn her at the stake? Is that the best they can do?
There is a stake in the background. Pathetic. Overwhelming male power increases the dignity of both sexes. She can presumably bewitch men, which is good for her. She should be promoted to the rank of concubine & be both bewitching & downtrodden at the same time.

Isn't this from Heavy Metal Magazine?
I'm sure I saw this as a a frame in a story in the graphic arts magazine Heavy Metal? It was a long time ago, too! The girl sees a vision (a bright light)while out in the fields and runs to tell her mother/sister and the local preist finds out! The girl gets accused of witchcraft, stripped, beaten with sticks and finally burned at the stake. There was no dialog in it, it was all pictures - just like this one.

Another very good piece here. The ink provides a nice contrast on it, and the stippling on her figure is right on. I love the variety of characters amongst the monks/villagers in the background. Clever title. Is she to be burned at the stake then, or uh... "impaled" on it, so to speak?
