Despite the seriousness of the situation our heroine gives in to mounting excitement, before continuing her slow trek towards the exit of the tunnels.
She was tied up wearing bra and panties, and the self-replicating nanites used that non-living matter for raw material. The nanite activity persisted in those areas, generating heat while awaiting more material to convert.

The thumb cuffs are a nice touch; I wonder if the ankle cuff nanites will do the same to her big toes as well?
