Why? No reason was given for grabbing her off the beach and doing this to her. During the voyage to the remote rocky islet they did however carefully explain the difficulty of cutting the hardened steel rings so close to her skin and the unlikelihood of any naval traffic in the area with the upcoming hurricane.
The logotype on the boat read 'Power Trips Inc.'

I imagine this situation to be difficult and painful but not fatal.
What if somebody else was present on this seemingly deserted island? Coming here to avoid being caught in the storm and hiding from the obviously dangerous villains. Maybe even sneakily sabotaging their boat.
Powerful cutting tools may not be available but the situation is no longer hopeless.
I'll do my best to come up with a follow-up picture.

You're right, Yumi, Grigbertz hasn't posted since this pic. That having been said, he's generally updated the site in fits and spurts so its entirely possible he just hasn't felt like updating lately.
