The aliens were disappointed in the reporter's lack of understanding. Especially since her comments seemed to have upset the lovely Jessica. They decided to let her share part of Jessica's experience, hoping to get some more insightful coverage from her in the future.
A small spy infiltrated the reporter's washing machine and put nano-goo in her lingerie. A most difficult operation successfully pulled off.

To begin with the aliens intended to let her condition be only temporary as they didn't care much for her attitude. After a while though they warmed towards her as she became less judgemental. Eventually they agreed to allow her to keep the nanites permanently.
