I agree with the power-armor comment, but I think it's clear that it's also hostage-armor. It certainly makes it more difficult to battle the demon if you want to avoid hurting the girl.

Horses have nosebags to have a snack. Mr G's ingenuity always surprises. Hanuman is a fairly benevolent Hindu monkey god, & Ravana is a Hindu baddy. This bloke seems like a cross between the two.
