The virtual reality of Dark City. It can be accessed almowt everywhere, at least out of the Slum Levels. It is a merchantile network, but also a place to meet, make friends, have sex and get robbed or raped, all with less risk than in the real world.
It's perfectly safe. Stories of how people have suffered from tauma after using the Data Net are just urban legends.
All good shopping is virtual shopping. Things sold on the streets are mostly stolen or substandard. Beware of buying on the streets, especially in the Slum Levels. Goods are delivered within minutes through a Delivery Tube.
