The pilot episode of the Dark City series opens with the arrival of Sonia Wight as she teleports in from another series. She arrives naked in Terminator style. As an accomplished Technomage, it does not take her long to hook up to the massive Data Net in the Dark City and get some gear through a Delivery Tube.
Phoenix observes how Sonia Wight is accosted by a band of street trash as she is standing, naked, by a Data Net terminal. Perparing to jump in to defend the seemingly defenseless girl, she is stuned to see the gangers simply leave. She appoaches Sonia Wight, who is intruiged by the awakened nature of the obvious borg.
Mistress Alexandra is at the Broken Virtue looking for clients. She spots Camille Reichenbach, an Ascension Corp executive from the higher levels looking for the rough stuff.
As Mistress Alexandra and her client are leaving the building and Sonia Wight and Phoenix are entering, a Grav Race car comes crashing down from the level above. Phoenix created a psychic force field to protect the people on the street. Our Heroines are forced to retreat back into the bar to avoid being pummelled by falling debris. Mistress Alexandra and her client withdraw to a back room, where the latex-clad dominatrix caters to the twisted desires of Camille Reichenbach. Meanwhile, Sonia Wight and Phoenix get to know each other.
As Mistress Alexandra rejoins Our Heroines, a group of Men In Black enter the Broken Virtue looking for Rogue Assets. The Men In Black open fire on the three women, who leave by the back door and flee into the sewers. The Men In Black are probably tracking the arcane energies of Sonia Wights arrival or Phoenix.
Our Heroines decide to move deeper underground and spot a large Power Line. They manage to follow the Power Line across a wide chasm. The line throbs with Chi Energy, and as they begin to investigate, the power surges and a vortex forms above them.
They scrape away centuries of grime and discover a simple plaque bearing the inscription D-Kore. Mistress Alexandra vaguely recals that D-Kore was a cult groups, which was wiped out by a Booster Gang a decade ago.
The Phoenix uses her techno-empathy to scan the place, and sense that terrible rituals have taken place here. Sonia Wight does a History Reconstruction and found out that the place is incredibly old, millions or even billions of years. Countless times throughout history, D-Kore operatives have come by here, and this ended only recently. But Sonia Wight saw no rituals such as those Phoenix sensed empathically.
Sensing that reality is weak here, Sonia Wight reaches out of this world and draws her trusty ARX 32 to her. While doing so, she also lets in a Technodemon, that is promptly dispatched by Mistress Alexandra. They are all spooked and make their way to the surface. The mystery of D-Kore will have to wait.
Since Sonia Wight and Phoenix are strangers to the Dark City, Mistress Alexandra offers to let them stay at the Dominatrix Coven as guests, not clients.
